Although I’m a big fan of authentic empanadas with handshaped edges in a spiral pattern, I sometimes use an empanada press, or dough press, when making large amounts of empanadas. A few years ago I started making empanadas after work and finished well after midnight making a lot of empanadas for my birthday that was coming up in the weekend. The next day a ran to a latin grocery store and bought a set of empanada presses. Empanada presses are also sold as dough presses or dumpling makers and are sold in latin grocery stores, asian and chinese stores and in internet stores. The price varies, it all depends on what type you buy, and the material it is made of. The set I have is made from dishwasher safe plastic and costed me about $5,00.

when in Jersey City, New Jersey, Casa Victoria located at 691 Newark Avenue near Five Corners offers Empanada de Pollo, Filipino style. It’s worth your trip!
