Shakira, She Wolf

With her new album Shakira took it in another direction. Whether you like it or not, you will have to get used to it. I got used to it remarkably fast I must say.

Shakira She Wolf album

With the title of the album being She Wolf you would expect all tracks to be in English. But the Colombian singer hasn’t forgotten her native language. There are 12 tracks on the albun, 9 in English and 3 in Spanish. Those 3 tracks, Lo Hecho Está HechoAños Luz and La Loba, are the Spanish versions of Did It Again,Why Wait and She Wolf.

The first release of this new album was of course the title track She Wolf. With this new album Shakira is clearly experimenting with different styles of music. Her sound is innovative and surprising. But at the same time we are missing the familiar exotic sound we all know her from.

Like said before some songs you will have got to get used to, but in the end you will appreciate the album. Maybe it is because of the collaboration with Pharell Williams who wrote and produced a number of songs. Not only Men In This Town, but also Spy (feat. Wyclef Jean), Good StuffDid It AgainWhy Wait and Long Time are songs I recommend listening to. Enough reasons to buy this album. And if you already have it in your collection I would like to know what you think of it.

Now the waiting is for her next Spanish album, which likely will be released  early 2010. In the mean time you will have time to buy, to  listen and get to know She Wolf.
